Kamloops mini-Idol 2013:
Due to various factors, we are only hosting our mini-Idol division this year. We appologize to all the singers who were wanting to participate in our usual adult version of Kamloops Idol event. We hope to return to the regular Idol event in 2014
2013 mini-Idol:
· For ages 8-13 (age as of July 1st, 2013)

1st round of auditions will be held at the Pavilion Theatre June 27 and 28 from 4pm-8pm. Depending on demand, we may host a holdover date on the 29th from 1pm-4pm at the same location but this will only be determined according to demand on the Thursday and Friday so do check back here on the Friday for Saturday verification.

A registration fee of $10 needs to be paid before the first audition accompanied by the registration form which will be given to you when you arrive.

For the screening audition you may sing any song you wish.

no original compositions can be performed, you must perform a cover song
-
karaoke tracks or instrumental versions of the songs are suggested and cannot include lead vocals within the track (backing vocals are accepted)

there are many sites online to find your backing track

we reccomend http://www.karaoke-version.com, where you can change the key either up or down depending on the singers needs

we suggest you present your song in the key best suited for your voice

no live instruments or other musicians can be used

from the first round approximatly 30 singers will be chosen for the Semi-Finals which will be held on July 1st at Riverside Park on Canada Day at the BC Living Arts Booth.

For the Semi-finals, you will need to sing a different song from the first round.

We will choose approximately 10 singers to compete in the finals that will take place in the late afternoon at the same location as the semi-finals.

For the finals, singers would need to sing either their first round song, or a new song not already sung within the competition

Each singer will receive public feedback from the judges. It will be positive and constructive. This is meant to foster and encourage growth and not be a negative experience. Parents are always encouraged to attend any and all auditions.
There will be prizes for the winner which will be announced by the first round.
Basic Information:

We will not have a karaoke machine and therefore, you are responsible for providing your own backing tracks for performance and must be in cd format or on MP3/iPod playing device.

We highly reccomend that all singers use a backing track.

The backing track CAN NOT have the lead singer/vocal line within the track but backing vocals are accepted

Singing acapella is not encouraged.
