September Songs
September 10 and 11, 8pm at the Pavilion Theatre
Four women in the SALES industry live together at the Octopus Inn. After their performances in ‘advertising’, we begin to learn how each are dealing with their choices as per love, life, and work. This melange of Musical Theatre songs gives us an intimate glimpse into these rather tragic women - all at different stages of life. The concert features the music of Kurt Weill who is known for his edgy and unique approach to storytelling and musical theatre. One of his most famous collaborations was with the great German author Bertolt Brecht whom Weill wrote the famous Mack the Knife for his “Threepenny Opera” which was adapted from Brecht’s Threepenny Novel.
Conceived and directed by Alan Corbishley, this production will be a return to the spirit of his previous theatrical creations such as Satie de Paris, His ‘Bathtub’ Bach Cantata, and Metaxu. The four womens roles will be sung by Janet Michael, Carlene Wiebe, Jessica McLaughlin, and Katherine Bermiller and joined by Mary Jackson on piano, Gail and Brad Potter on accordion and saxophone respectively, Neil Brun on bass and narrated by Wesley Eccleston.
